US President Donald Trump has rejected suggestions that China has challenged his administration over the Iran war. Speaking at a White House fitness event on May 6, 2026, Trump highlighted his warm relationship with Beijing officials and said he finds Chinese President Xi Jinping to be a “tremendous guy”. Iran is expected to be on the agenda when Trump travels to Beijing for talks with Xi on May 14 and 15. The visit, originally set for March, was rescheduled after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran, resulting in a conflict that has spread across the Middle East.
