All dairy cattle vaccinated against FMD in KZN
KwaZulu-Natal has vaccinated its entire dairy herd against foot-and-mouth disease with the assistance of private veterinarians. There was concern over the impact of the disease on the province’s dairy industry – as the province produces 30% of South Africa’s raw milk. State veterinarian Dr Themba Sikhakhane says they should reach their target of vaccinating all 2-point-five million cattle in the province by September.
