‘Direct message to China’: Australia and Japan sign defence pact
Sky News Australia Defence Analyst Peter Jennings believes the new security pact between Australia and Japan is a direct signal to China.
“What was agreed was a series of defence and security agreements,” Mr Jennings told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
“The most significant one was where they said Australia and Japan would work to keep trade flows open through the South China Sea, which, of course, directly points to China as being the principal problem.
“China, I think, will complain about it.”
