Could post‑Assad Syria become an ally in Israel’s fight against Hezbollah? | DW News


The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is still officially in place, but Israeli airstrikes have not stopped. Israel continues to target what it says are Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah keeps firing rockets into northern Israel. The conflict has been largely overshadowed by the war with Iran. Ahmad Sharawi of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies believes that Israel may have an unlikely ally in the region to support its fight against Hezbollah: Syria.
