Govt vows to restore dignity through decent housing


Public Works minister Dean Macpherson says government needs to have a proper plan on asbestos roofing.

Addressing the Freedom Day celebration in Mpophomeni in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands where over 1500 homes were badly damaged by a hailstorm last month.

Macpherson says communities from areas like Mphophomeni need their dignity restored.

Most homes have asbestos roofing, and the municipality has spent over R300 000 repairing shattered windows and patching damaged roofs last month. Macpherson handed over donations to victims.
