Call for transformation in the legal sector
Black legal practitioners have raised concerns about briefing patterns at the Office of the Solicitor General, saying legal work continues to be disproportionately allocated to their white counterparts.
Justice Minister Mamoloko Kubayi has acknowledged these concerns. However, she maintains that some black practitioners make basic errors, making it difficult for institutions to brief them. Kubayi was speaking at a meeting with black practitioners in Pretoria, where challenges facing the profession were discussed.
