The pair teamed up to crash Melbourne High School’s formal at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, slipping in to the hotel’s ballroom through a back door at around 11pm, just as Perry’s hit single California Gurls began to play.
News.com.au reported at the time that “Perry grabbed a microphone and waded through the sea of students on the dance floor before she began singing along to her track.”
