First, it was a rate decision to stop the nation, with the Reserve Bank confirming what was widely expected: the year’s fifth increase, taking the cash rate to its highest level in 18 years. It’s a blow for millions of Australians already doing it tough and tonight economists say the chance of a recession is more or less a coin toss. In other news, while all eyes were on Flemington today, Sydney didn’t miss out on the action. Sunny blue skies saw more than 20,000 people at The Big Dance on Cup Day.
