Trump compliments and jokes with Canadian PM amid trade feud
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney reacted as US President Donald Trump praised him as a “world-class leader” and “tough negotiator” during a meeting at the White House.
Trump was then asked why a trade deal hadn’t been reached yet with Canada, to which he replied: “Because I want to be a great man too.”
Carney visited the US for talks on trade and security as Canada faces pressure over tariffs on steel, autos and other goods.
