Dr Kayode Fayemi has challenged African governments and businesses to approach the evolving global balance of power and shifting political dynamics with realism and strategic clarity.

Addressing the 16th Thabo Mbeki Africa Day Lecture in Cape Town, Fayemi, an international scholar and Nigerian politician, said Africa cannot afford to become merely a theatre for external competition among global powers.

His address aligned with this year’s lecture theme: “Rebuilding African Unity in an Age of Fragmentation: Sovereignty, Solidarity and the Renewal of Institutions.
