‘Mean-spiritedness, just plain craziness’: Obama savages Trump administration at Virginia rally

Former US president Barack Obama has addressed a campaign rally in Virginia for Abigail Spanberger, the Democratic nominee for state governor.

Mr Obama took a swipe at US President Donald Trump during his speech, claiming America and its politics are “in a pretty dark place” at the moment.

“It’s hard to know where to start because every day, this White House offers up a fresh batch of lawlessness and recklessness and mean-spiritedness, just plain craziness,” he said.

“We got a president who thinks it’s ok to use the Justice Department to go after his political opponents.”
