Israel accuses Hamas of ceasefire violation and launches airstrikes that kill many in Gaza | DW News
The Israel Defense Forces said it had resumed “enforcement of the ceasefire” in Gaza after launching strikes on Tuesday, accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement.
The strikes follow the death of an Israeli soldier in southern Gaza. Israel’s army says he was killed in combat, but Hamas denies any involvement.
Gaza’s Hamas-run civil defense agency says some 100 people, including dozens of children, were killed in those strikes. Israel and Hamas accuse each of violating the US-backed ceasefire agreement, which came into effect about three weeks ago. Despite the renewed violence, US President Donald Trump said he’s confident the ceasefire will hold and that Israel has the right to hit back if attacked.
