US military launches fresh strikes on alleged drug-smuggling convoy | ABC NEWS
The US military says it has carried out air strikes on three alleged drug-smuggling vessels in international waters as the Trump administration continues to ramp up pressure on Venezuela’s Maduro government.
The Department of Defense claims it contacted the US Coast Guard to initiate a search and rescue mission in the wake of the attack.
The move signals a willingness to comply with international rules of engagements after allegations the US military targeted survivors of a vessel it had struck earlier.
At least 33 boats have been hit and 110 people killed in military strikes in the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean amid US President Donald Trump’s so-called war on drugs.
