Southeast Asia floods: More than 600 people dead and hundreds missing as rescue operations continue
Heavy rains have triggered flooding and landslides in parts of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia, leaving at least 600 people dead and thousands stranded.
In Sri Lanka, heavy floods and mudslides caused by Cyclone Ditwah have killed over 130 people, with hundreds still missing. Authorities say the country is “facing the biggest natural disaster in recent history”.
Meanwhile, flooding and landslides in Indonesia have killed more than 300 people, according to the latest figures from the disaster authority on Saturday.
With hundreds still missing and rescue operations still underway across the region, the death toll is likely to rise.
