‘I like the idea’: Trump doubles down on threat to make the Strait of Hormuz a US territory
US President Donald Trump is threatening to bomb Oman as the US ally reportedly closes in on a deal with Iran to control the Strait of Hormuz.
The American leader has maintained the waterway must be free and fully open.
Speaking in the Oval Office on Tuesday morning, President Trump also doubled down on the idea of America claiming the Strait of Hormuz as its own territory.
“We control it with the blockade, and I like the idea of declaring it a territory,” he said.
