As Taiwan runs its largest annual war games this week, we look at its strategy of overwhelming any Chinese invasion force with mass-produced, low-cost drones. It’s a defense strategy modeled partly on lessons from the war in Ukraine. Stacie Pettyjohn, director of the Defense Program at the Center for a New American Security, who co-authored a major report on Taiwan’s drone defense strategy, tells us whether the plan can really work.
