Sydney’s metro network undergoes final emergency simulation testing on the southwest line before regulatory approval, while northwest residents rally for a new metro link from Tallawong to St Marys. The 51-kilometre line from Tallawong to Bankstown will operate fully automatically, moving 17,000 passengers each way through the CBD during peak hours. Emergency services conducted smoke evacuation drills at Canterbury and other stations as part of stress testing before the upgraded line opens.
