AOC and other Democratic socialists are ripping party apart ahead of 2028 election

Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney discusses who could potentially run for the Democratic leader in the US 2028 election as the Democratic socialist wing gains momentum.

“The energy … is with the progressive far socialist left, then my mind immediately goes to somebody like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as running for president or perhaps Zohran Mamdani,” Mr Mulvaney told News24 host James Morrow.

“None of these things are really off the table; it is ripping the Democrat Party apart.

“Democrat donors are concerned that they might be giving money to a socialist party, and that’s a real good reason to not whip out the cheque book, and the Dems are having a lot of trouble right now raising the cash necessary to go into these midterm elections.”
