Brisbane marks six years until 2032 Olympic Games
Queensland has marked six years until the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games — the third time Australia will have hosted the event.
The opening ceremony for the Olympic Games will be held in Brisbane on 23 July 2032, followed by the Paralympic Games, which kick off on 24 August.
The state government has revealed plans for a new aquatic centre, but questions continue around costs and infrastructure delays.
So far, just one Olympic venue is in the early works phase of construction — the Brisbane Olympic Stadium at Victoria Park, which has faced significant community backlash.
All other venues are in the design or planning and approvals stage.
Despite this, officials are confident the deadline will be met, with Queensland Premier David Crisafulli saying: “I’ve always believed that we have the time, the skills, to deliver a world-class event, and to do it on time and on budget.”
