Sonam Wangchuk Ends 26-Day Hunger Strike After Centre’s Written Assurance


Sonam Wangchuk has ended his 26-day hunger strike after receiving written assurances from the Centre. In a video released after breaking his fast, Wangchuk said the government assured that no legal action would be taken against protesting students, compensation would be provided to the families of students who died in connection with the NEET paper leak issue, and a discussion on the NEET controversy and examination accountability would be held in Parliament.

However, Wangchuk said the Centre did not provide any assurance on his demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
