Trump lifts 40-year ban on direct US flights to Lebanon after meeting with president

President Donald Trump made news after meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House on Tuesday, saying direct U.S. flights to the country can resume after a 40-year suspension.

“I am hereby directing my Administration to allow all U.S. airline carriers to fly directly to Lebanon so that Americans can easily visit this beautiful land,” Trump said on social media.

Trump also pledged to help Lebanon amid the months-long war between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group.
