Delays as SARS implements new cross-border system at Maseru bridge


Traffic at Maseru Bridge has eased slightly, but delays persist.
SARS Customs and Excise Director, Beyers Theron says significant interventions are now in place to ease congestion. From 1 June 2026, all foreign-registered vehicles must be declared on SARS’ Traveller Management System before entering or leaving South Africa. SARS says nearly 39,000 Temporary Import Permits have been issued across the SADC region, with about 18,000 of them for Lesotho.
