Seismic surveys challenged in W Cape

The Aukotowa Fisher Cooperative, the Green Connection, and Natural Justice are challenging the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources and the British company, TGS Geophysical in the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town.

This, as the organisations say government approved potentially harmful seismic surveys off South Africa’s Western and Northern Cape coastlines without full considerations of the impact.

The organisations say small scale fishing communities will be affected.
