Trump’s influence to be tested in ‘very consequential’ Texas Senate runoff

Sky News Washington Analyst Annelise Nielson says the Senate runoff in Texas will be “very consequential” for US President Donald Trump.

Mr Trump’s influence will be put to the test as voters in Texas head to the polls to decide the Republican nominee in a race that could decide control of the Senate.

Trump has backed state Attorney General Ken Paxton over Senator John Cornyn.

“Donald Trump is losing allies by endorsing some people that haven’t been supported by the traditional Republican establishment, so this race in Texas really is very consequential.”
