Magpie takes top spot as Australia’s most sighted bird

More than five million birds have been tallied in BirdLife Australia’s Aussie Bird Count, with one feathered friend flying high above the rest.

Of the more than 600 species spotted, the magpie easily swooped into the top spot with the iconic black and white bird featuring in almost 50 per cent of all surveys.
