Multiple people were evacuated from a luxury shopping mall in Tokyo on May 25, after patrons reported a mystery “pungent odor” radiating at the complex in Ginza, Tokyo. According to NHK, at least 25 people reported feeling ill from the smell, with many complaining that the strong odor gave them a sore throat.
The Metropolitan Police said the smell emanated from a man who sprayed a substance near a bank ATM on the complex’s first floor. Authorities are reportedly still investigating the matter.
