SA Ambassador-Designate Roelf Meyer Presents Credentials to US
South Africa’s Ambassador-Designate to the United States, Roelf Meyer, has presented his credentials to US authorities.
He formally replaces Ebrahim Rasool who was expelled from the US in March last year.
Meyer’s appointment comes amid efforts to stabilize the relationship between Washington and Pretoria after a cataclysmic deterioration since the return of President Donald Trump to the White House.
Trump charged that white farmers were victims of a genocide and a system of racial persecution which is not supported by facts on the ground but rather a crime problem in the country affecting all communities.
