KVDT2 upgrade expected to be completed two years ahead of schedule, says KTMB

The Klang Valley Double Track Phase 2 (KVDT2) upgrading project is expected to be completed as early as 2027, two years ahead of its original schedule, says Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB).

KTMB chief operating officer Afzar Zakariya said the 265km upgrade will modernise ageing rail infrastructure, improve safety and passenger comfort, and allow more frequent KTM Komuter services, with some intervals reduced to as low as 7.5 minutes.

The project will also support heavier cargo loads, boosting the government’s road-to-rail initiative.
