Gauteng Economic Development MEC Vuyiswa Ramokgopa has fired ⁠Gauteng Gambling Board CEO Karabo Mbele,⁠ (https://www.enca.com/news/ramokgopa-axes-gauteng-gambling-board-ceo) while the entity’s CFO has also been suspended after a forensic investigation into funds meant for worthy causes.

In other news, a ⁠Kenyan transport strike ⁠ (https://www.enca.com/business-news/kenya-strike-over-rising-fuel-prices-enters-2nd-day) has entered a second day after deadly unrest over rising fuel prices, oil ⁠prices dipped after Donald Trump postponed a threatened Iran strike,⁠ (https://www.enca.com/business/asian-markets-cautious-oil-dips-after-trump-holds-iran-attack) and the ⁠Ebola outbreak in the DRC⁠ (https://www.enca.com/news-top-stories/who-worried-about-scale-and-speed-deadly-ebola-outbreak) has now claimed an estimated 131 lives.

SPORT

Arsenal could be ⁠crowned Premier League champions⁠ (https://www.enca.com/sport/arsenal-brink-premier-league-title-after-nervy-burnley-win) if Manchester City fail to beat Bournemouth, after the Gunners edged Burnley 1-0. Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to end his Manchester City reign, Jose Mourinho is being linked with a Real Madrid return, and the Lions will be without Springbok scrumhalf Morné van den Berg for their URC quarter-final.

And finally, President Cyril Ramaphosa has ⁠bestowed National Orders on South Africans⁠ (https://www.enca.com/news-top-stories/sa-honours-outstanding-contributors-national-orders) who have contributed to democracy and public life, including Professor Tulio de Oliveira, Jonathan Butler, Wouter Kellerman and Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus.
