Gauteng residents face possible water supply disruptions

The majority of municipal reservoirs and water towers across Gauteng may be affected by Rand Water’s critical winter maintenance programme, which starts next Friday.

The bulk water supplier says the planned 19-day operation takes place at its Palmiet and Zuikerbosch water treatment and purification plants, key facilities that supply water to most of the province’s 11 municipalities.

Eskom will also be involved in the maintenance process, which is expected to place strain on water supply systems.

Rand Water has assured residents and businesses that contingency plans are in place to ensure continued access to clean drinking water.
