San Diego mosque shooting: 3 victims killed, 2 teen suspects also dead


Police, FBI and other officials provide an update after a deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

Two suspects, ages 17 and 19, in the mosque shooting are dead, authorities said.

Three adults, including a security guard, were also killed in the shooting.

Shots were reported at the Islamic Center of San Diego in the 7000 block of Eckstrom Avenue, about 9 miles north of downtown San Diego.

At 1:06 p.m., the San Diego Police Department posted on social media that the “threat at the Islamic center has been neutralized.”

Imam Taha Hassane, director of the Islamic center, said all students and staff members were safe.

The Islamic Center of San Diego is the largest mosque in San Diego County, according to its website. The campus also includes Al Rashid School, which offers courses in Arabic language, Islamic studies and the Quran.
