Australia’s leading heart experts are recommending weight loss drugs like Mounjaro for patients with heart disease or high cardiac risk, following new research showing GLP-1 medications may protect the heart beyond weight loss benefits. The Heart Foundation has included these drugs in new national obesity guidelines, which could benefit thousands of Australians. Teacher Scott Kenny lost 65 kilograms on Mounjaro and reversed his diabetes and hypertension, though the medications still cost hundreds of dollars monthly without government subsidies.
