Sydney’s new electric ferry fleet has been unveiled, with the NSW government signing a deal with Hobart-based shipbuilder Richardson Devine Marine to produce 24-metre battery-powered vessels. The electric ferries will begin 12-month trials in early 2028 and service the new Fish Market from 2029. Previous plans to replace all diesel-powered ferries by 2035 have been shelved pending the outcome of this trial.
