Bells rang in Makhanda as Settlers Dam overflowed
For the first time in years, bells rang across Makhanda as Settlers Dam overflowed following much-needed rains in the Eastern Cape.
The tradition, dating back to the 1970s, saw bells tolling at institutions including Kingswood College, symbolising hope, gratitude and relief after repeated drought crises in the region.
