Govt to review, consider increasing allocation for Education Ministry


The government will continue to review and consider increasing allocations to the Education Ministry from time to time, including efforts to strengthen digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Speaking when launching the national-level Teachers’ Day celebration in Ipoh, Perak, on Saturday (May 16), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said various initiatives have been introduced to improve teachers’ welfare, including upgrading 7,000 teachers’ rooms and repairing more than 4,000 teachers’ quarters, with another 8,700 units set to be maintained.

The government has also approved the recruitment of 3,150 additional teachers ahead of the 2027 Year One intake policy.
