US scraps plans to deploy thousands of troops to Poland
The Pentagon is halting plans to deploy around 4,000 U.S.-based troops to Poland, according to officials. The decision comes after the U.S. announced in recent weeks plans to withdraw roughly 5,000 troops from Germany in the coming months, following a thorough review of the Pentagon’s “force posture in Europe and is in recognition of theater requirements and conditions on the ground.”
President Donald Trump has been outspoken in his criticism of NATO allies over a lack of support for the war in Iran, which broke out earlier this year.
