A car fell into a large sinkhole on the Long Island Expressway, closing some westbound lanes for at least 24 hours near Melville while highway crews rush to make emergency repairs.
Suffolk police have closed three lanes of the westbound LIE after a Honda became lodged in the hole, described as 8 feet deep and 10 feet wide, police said.
