Energy costs push inflation higher as Middle East conflict continues
LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall is speaking with economist Dr. Mike Walden as new data shows that energy costs, including gasoline, increased last month, as did the cost of food at a rate not seen since last December. This comes as inflation had been dropping more or less steadily before conflict in the Middle East began. According to recent reports, consumer prices climbed 3.8% in April 2026 relative to the same month in 2025. This represents a significant month-over-month acceleration, with prices jumping 0.6% since March 2026.
