New Satellite Images Reveal Near-Completed Bridge Connecting North Korea and Russia
New satellite images reveal show the new bridge connecting Russia and North Korea nearing completion, marking the first road connection between the two countries. Prior to this, the Korea–Russia Friendship Bridge (Khasan–Tumangang Bridge), a railway bridge for freight transport, was historically the sole link between the countries since 1959. A ceremony on April 21 celebrated the bridge joining across the Tumen River. The project, agreed to by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a 2024 visit to Pyongyang with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, is expected to be completed by June 19, according to Reuters.
