Jewish Homes, Synagogues Attacked In New York; Mamdani ‘HORRIFIED’, Suspects Nabbed
A disturbing wave of antisemitic vandalism has shaken Queens in New York City, where homes and synagogues were defaced with swastikas and hateful graffiti overnight between May 4 and 5. The attack coincided with preparations for the Jewish holiday of Lag B’omer, heightening fear within the community. The New York Police Department has released surveillance footage of four suspects, who remain at large, and is investigating the case as a hate crime. Officials, including New York Speaker Julie Menin, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and Governor Kathy Hochul, have strongly condemned the attack, calling it targeted hatred and vowing accountability.
