At least 14 members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed in a powerful explosion in Zanjan Province, while conducting a clearance operation. Two others were injured. The blast was triggered by unexploded ordnance left behind from recent airstrikes during the Iran war. The IRGC teams had entered the contaminated zone to identify and neutralise dangerous munitions — but instead, the operation turned fatal. Authorities say the region remains heavily contaminated, with reports of cluster bombs and air-dropped mines scattered across nearly 1,200 hectares of farmland, posing a continuing threat to both military personnel and civilians.
