Joseph Kabila | US announces sanctions against former DRC President
The United States has announced sanctions against former DRC President Joseph Kabila citing his role in support of the M23 rebel group and the Congo River Alliance. US Treasury cites M23 as a Rwanda-backed armed group in eastern Congo while charging the Congo River Alliance with acting as “M23’s political-military coalition” – accusing both entities of fueling political instability and violent conflict in eastern DRC.
