Pan-African Parliament ushers in new leadership


The Pan-African Parliament has elected new leadership in Midrand, with Algeria’s Fateh Boutbig taking the presidency. The newly-elected president secured 119 out of 134 votes cast, with 15 ballots spoiled, and will serve a three-year term under the African Union’s regional rotation system. In his inaugural address, Boutbig outlined the important contribution that North Africa can make towards the rest of the continent.
