The Secret Service rushed to evacuate Vice President JD Vance and President Donald Trump from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after reports of a shooting incident outside the ballroom. Video from the event appears to show Vance being escorted off stage first, followed by the removal of President Trump as security responded to the situation. The shooter, Cole Tomas Allen, told police he was going after “administration officials” at the press gala inside the Washington Hilton hotel in Washington, DC, CBS News reported, citing sources. He didn’t specify if he was targeting anyone in particular, or if he was trying to kill President Trump specifically, CBS News reported, citing sources.
