Government appears set to reject gas exports tax

The federal government appears to be hardening its stance against community calls for a hike on taxes on gas exports.

Friday’s session of the parliamentary inquiry examining taxes on Australia’s natural resources featured representatives from energy companies, including Woodside and Chevron.

They say any new taxes would impact Australia’s energy supply.
