IRGC poses ‘significant’ threat on Gulf shipping and security
University of Sydney Professor Simon Jackman highlighted the ongoing security risks the United States faces as a result of the conflict with Iran.
“It’s what we call in political science a game of chicken, neither side seems particularly keen to get back to hostilities,” Mr Jackman told Sky News Australia.
“The capital end of Iran has been destroyed, but the IRGC possesses significant small craft that can go harass and can even conduct boarding operations.
“The Gulf, in no small measure, is still very much up for grabs … Iran has a capability to erupt and seize shipping there.”
