US Attorney Jeanine Pirro busts ‘international auto theft ring’ in DC #shorts


More from DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro on the car theft ring busted Wednesday.

“While on the street, they literally disconnect the GPS and the Bluetooth. But this isn’t joyriding,” she explained. “These are high-end vehicles that are then loaded onto transport carriers headed to ports in Savannah and Baltimore, Md.”

“But first they are cooled off,” she added. “They’re cooled off, where the plates are exchanged in one place on I Street in the Navy Yard, and in another place where they swap out the plates — curiously, a parking garage at a Marriott in Maryland.

“From there, they are loaded onto shipping containers that are labeled furniture as opposed to cars, because they will not be as much scrutiny,” the US attorney went on. “And then the shipping containers are sent across the ocean to Africa, where they get top dollar on the black market.”
