‘They think they have the winning cards’: Iran emboldened despite devastating blow from the US
FDD Iran analyst Janatan Sayeh has analysed Iran’s response to US President Donald Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire.
“Tehran effectively ignored this deadline. That really tells us they think time is on their side, they think they can wait this out, and they think they have the winning cards,” he told Sky News host James Bolt.
“They’re under the impression that so long as there’s no direct confrontation militarily and they’re not getting struck, they can just absorb the status quo, and that really tells you about their mindset.”
