‘Something we have never encountered’: Doctor Derrick Todd indicted on 81 sexual assault charges
In what is believed to be the largest case of its kind in Massachusetts history, a Suffolk County grand jury has indicted rheumatologist Dr. Derrick Todd on more than 80 sexual assault charges involving nearly two dozen former patients.
Todd, who worked at two Brigham and Women’s hospitals and a physician practice in Framingham, already faces 22 counts of rape and indecent assault and battery in Middlesex County. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said the new charges include 21 additional counts of rape, one count of assault with intent to rape, and 59 counts of indecent assault and battery. Rape is punishable by up to life in prison, the DA’s office said.
