Cachalia cautions SAPS members to Adhere to Media Communication Protocols

Acting Minister of Police, Firoz Cachalia, released a statement today noting concern about the suspended Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioner’s media briefing held yesterday. Cachalia says the briefing was inconsistent with established professional protocols on media communication within the South African Police Service.

In the Media briefing Lt Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela accused National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, of protecting corrupt police officers. She alleges that her suspension was effected as she was taking action against police officers who are involved in extortion and corruption.
